In light of the growing protests against the mega dams coming up in the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys, CDRO decided to send an all-India fact-finding team to these areas. An eight-member team visited the three states of the northeast,  Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, between 18-23 April 2012. The team specifically looked into the Hydro Electric Projects of Tipaimukh (Manipur), Lower Subansiri, Lower Siang, Demwe and Debang (Arunachal Pradesh). The team had discussions with a cross-section of people, going to be affected by these projects in the three states and a few academia and experts on this subject. What follows is a report from the team highlighting the issues related to the potential impact of these projects on the lives and livelihood of the local people and the overall ecology of the region.
