This report published in 1993 is a fact-finding undertaken by PUDR on a custodial death in Kanjhawala police station – a police station with the second lowest crime rate in Delhi. Most of the crime in this police station is settled through negotiation, therefore, the cause of low FIRs. This report examines the circumstances surrounding the death of Om Prakash on the 5th of November 1993, while in police custody. This report critiques the police version of the incident, raises questions about procedural lapses and ultimately tries to piece together the truth behind Om Prakash’s death.
