People’s Union for Democratic Rights

A civil liberties and democratic rights organisation based in Delhi, India

Peoples Union for Democratic Rights, Delhi (PUDR) strongly condemns the killing of four persons including a minor girl allegedly by Maoists at Bundu P.S. area in Jharkhand.

It is reported in the media that the attack by Maoists was indiscriminate, with the use of a landmine, and targeted all those the attackers could lay their hands on. No reason whatsoever can condone such an act of violence on unarmed people and minors.

It is also shocking that the police reportedly stationed less that 100 metres away arrived two hours after the incident.

PUDR finds such an action conducted by any responsible political organization most reprehensible. PUDR demands that the organization responsible for this killing accept responsibility for the same, initiate action against those responsible and properly compensate the families of the victims.
